A bulla is a round seal that was once affixed to an official document. These seals would indicate who the document came from. Many bulla have been found in archaeological digs. Some came from people who are named in the Bible. 2 Kings 18 indicates that Hezekiah, Son of Ahaz, began to reign as king of Judah. He became one of Israel’s greatest kings while being directed by God through the prophet Isaiah. This particular bulla of King Hezekiah was uncovered in 2009. It reads “Belonging to Hezekiah, (son of) Ahaz, king of Judah”
