Nora Stone/Stele
Dating to the 9th century BC, the Phoenician script on this stone indicates that the Tarshish, mentioned several times in the Bible, was a region of significance. It reads “He fought with the Sardinians at Tarshish and he drove them out. Among the Sardinians he is at peace, his army is at peace. Milkaton son of Shubna general of Pummay.”

The land of Tarshish is likely the region known today as Spain. In this place, there is a 2,800 year old silver mine in Rio Tinto of Andalusia that is called Solomon’s Hill. This name likely comes from the fact that King David and Solomon acquired much gold and silver from Tarshish/Spain.
