When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing (John 9:6-7).

Discovered in 2004 during a maintenance dig, the Pool of Siloam was built by King Hezekiah.  It was also mentioned by Christ when healing a blind man (John 9:7).  This image shows an excavated 50 meter edge of the pool and a channel that brought water to the area via Hezekiah’s tunnel. Also uncovered during the dig were pottery shards and biblical era coins bearing ancient Jewish writing. During this dig, the first paver steps of a Pilgrim’s Road leading to the temple mount were also discovered.
