God allowed Shishak, the King of Egypt, to invade the Judah and surrounding areas because of Rehoboams idolatrous rule (2Chr. 12). Shishak’s conquests are documented in a tribute to Shishak, known by Egypt as Shoshenq, at Karnak within the precinct of Amun-Re temple complex. It is called the Bubastite Portal. There are many shields called cartouche that are engraved with names of cities or areas that were conquered. A full third of them are no longer legible, but one of them reads “the field of Abram” and there are also many others naming places in the Levant near to Judah and Jerusalem.
